It’s about people.
For me, recruitment has never just been about matching the right CV to the right vacancy. It’s about people.
What I often hear over the years is that people quickly feel at ease and seen with me. That leads to a different conversation. People don’t just tell me what they’ve done, they also show who they are, what drives them and where they truly thrive.
Of course I ask questions. I look at experience, knowledge and skills. But after all these years working with people, I’ve also learned to trust my people skills and intuition. Sometimes you see something in someone that doesn’t come across in a CV. A certain drive. Character. Potential. A way of thinking. That’s often where the best matches happen.
I don’t just find the right people. I recognise them.
How I got here
From technical trades to the boardroom.
I started in 2009 as a recruiter at an employment agency in Zaandam, working with technical and industrial professionals. After that I spent over four years as a team leader at Hertz in Hoofddorp: a team of ten, fifteen drivers and a fleet of more than five hundred cars. That’s where I learned to plan, switch gears and bring out the best in people when everything had to happen at once.
At Technicum I grew a local installation engineering branch into a region covering North, Central and South Holland. At INTO I led the Corporate Client Services team, with customer satisfaction consistently above 9 out of 10. In 2019 I started my own business.

More than recruitment
Two times JOE.
Alongside JOE Recruitment I run JOE Green, a trading company in feedstock for biogas plants. That means I know the green gas sector from the inside: the plants, the people who keep them running and the language they speak. That comes in handy when I recruit for that sector.
For two years I also hosted The Midweek Show on MeerRadio every Wednesday evening. Learning to listen well and ask follow-up questions, live, with no second take. It turns out to be excellent training for a recruiter.
